Dad packed a load of straw in the barn for the horsies to sleep on in the winter.

We thought we had better go down and check that he had done it properly.

Eric: I'll just go up on top to make sure it is stacked safely.

Hey Flynn, look at me. I'm touching the roof.

Flynn: While you are up there I'll just make sure the lower layers are done right.

Yep, everything looks okay down here.

Now that's done I'll jump down and have a bath.

Straw tickles and itches so you haf to make sure you bath all the little bits out of your furrs.

All the loose straw has been put in this bag. It makes a good seat where you can listen furr mice.

Eric: All that snoopervising has tired me out. I need a rest now.

It's a bit hot in here, I think I will go and sit in the doorway where there is a nice breeze.

That's better.

Flynn: I don't want any breeze, I'm going to stay in here in the heat.
Oh and yes, that is sun you can see outside the door. After nearly non stop rain since the beginning of June, we have just had one and a half weeks of dry and mostly sunny weather. Hooray!!!!

One of our furry impawtunt mancat jobs is to check that the straw in the barn is good quality.

We check that there is nuffin there that shouldn't be there.

Sometimes we just sit quietly at the top of the ladder to make sure no introoders come in.

And on the way down, we smell the straw in case there are any mice hiding in there. It's impawtunt to check furr mice cuz sometimes they chew the string that holds the straw bales together, then when dad picks them up they break. That yooshully makes him say bad words.

When we go back down the ladder, we haf to be keerful cuz it's easier to go up than down.

If you try to go down to quick, you end up down the bottom quicker than you'd want to.

The weather has been very wet lately, so we hafn't been furr many walks wiv mum. We yooshully stay in the garden while she goes out to do the horsies and gets soaking wet.

Dad has been home more furr Chris Mouse, so he took us furr a walk and it started to rain again. He asked us if we wanted to go in the barn so we didn't get too wet. Well we don't mind getting wet, but it seemed like he did, so we said ok he could go in the barn if he wanted.

We wuz sniffing around and we could smell rats and mousies. Then we saw a ladder leaning against the straw, so we didn't even haf to jump up, we just walked up the ladder, right up to the top of the barn.

It wuz reely high up and we could touch the roof wiv our heads.

Then mum came back furrom putting the horses out in their fields, and it had stopped raining, so we all went furr a walk together.
We didn't find any mousies though. They must haf heard us coming.
It wuz good just relaxing in the barn then having a nice quiet stroll.

Mum let's us go in the hay barn. It's exciting in there because we find mousies hiding in the hay bales.

I'm on lookout duty to see if they are around. I haven't seen or heard any yet.Have yoo had any luck yet Eric?

I'll just have a quick look around up here, ok Flynn.

Nope can't see any. I'll just haf to do my mancat pose instead.

That's enuff of that, I think I'll have a nap while Flynn keeps looking.
