Flynn: Oh! It was Mr. Fezzunt. He made me jump and now the mousie has gone.

Flynn: I was not scared! If I was scared I would have floofed up all over, not just my tail. Well maybe my tail was a little bit scared. I'm going home!

This photo is of our Beans in front of The Vatican. They went there on a Mediterranean cruise in 2006. It was not long after mum had broken her leg and she was on crutches. She didn't want them in the photo, so she was leaning against dad and he was trying to hide them behind his back. You can see part of one behind his leg.

Several of you asked about the flowers yesterday. Yes they are crocuses. Even though we have had the coldest winter for twenty years, (we think that is right, we can't remember for sure) the Spring bulbs have been coming up early. The crocuses have been up for over a week and the snowdrops came up in the middle of January. Dad even saw primroses before Christmas.

Oh there he goes walking along the edge of the field.

You can see the track we have made where we always walk in the same place.

Flynn: Hello! Who's been here digging out the hedge? It's probably Mr. Badger or Mr. Fox.

I'll just have a quick look over the hedge and see if I can see who did it.

Flynn: Nope, couldn't see any one. Come on Eric, let's go back and rest on the field roller.

This is a nice sunny spot, what do you think Eric?

Eric: Yup, I could sit here all day and soak up the sunbeams if it wasn't so cold.

Flynn: Well you can stay there if you want to. I'm heading for home to see what's to eat.
It might have been sunny, but it was very cold and we had to floof our furrs to keep warm.

The mice are coming back! All through the winter I have tried to catch the mousies but haven't been able to find any. Today I heard movement and dug the mousie out. I only just caught him in time before the flashy box video ran out.

With all the snow everybody has been and still are getting, we thought we would have some wild flowers and sun in today's Friday Flashback. So here it is:

A WALK ON THE WILD SIDE.

It wuz a nice sunny day, well no it wuz a furry hot day reely, so I deesidid to go furr a walk in the woods where it would be cooler.I looked furr Flynn to see if he wanted to come too, but he wuzn't around.

I heard a noise in the tree, but it wuz just too hot to climb up it. I just went a little way to haf a look.

Hello Mr. Squirrel, I can see yoo on the branch. Yoo better fink yerself lucky it's hot and I can't be bovvered to chase yoo. I fink I need to go to the stream furr a drink.

Oh hello Flynn, I wondered where yoo wuz. Yoo must haf been sleeping down here to try and keep cool. When I haf finished drinking I'll tell yoo about my walk and the squirrel I met.

We had been out walking with mum again as the weather has improved at last. We stopped to rest by the horse trough and then had to have a rassle. When Eric realised mum had the flashy box he stopped, then walked away. We enjoy our rassles but he hates that flashy box.

I've been helping dad to move bales of straw from the barn to the little shed with his little tractor. This tractor is a Ferguson T20 and is often known by people as the 'Little Grey Fergie.' Although it is very old, nearly as old as dad, he still uses it on the farm for different things because it can get in places his big tractor can't, and when the fields get very muddy in the winter, the little tractor doesn't make as much of a mess.

We need to take it easy today because we had to do a lot of catch up on Saturday evening. We lost our AOL connection midday on Thursday and it meant we couldn't even post our Valentine's cards or enter the contests in time. Luckily we had scheduled our Friday Flashback post. All we could get from AOL was a pre-recorded message that they were aware of the problem and working on it. At least we are back again now two days later .

Mum has wanted to update our blog for ages but she is afraid of messing things up, so she has started a new blog for us. She is still trying it out at the moment but you can see it here. What has happened??? Our cat tree has fallen over and it is in bits!
This needs checking out. This hole should be on the side, not the top.
Yikes! The top platform is missing too.
Oh it's okay. Dad just told me it was getting wobbly so he was beefing it up before it collapsed.
I've heard that Flynn is spreading rumours that it is my weight that made it wobble. Don't believe him. It's not true.

It's Friday again already so we have our next Flashback. This one comes from March 2007 when we were thinking we were glad for some better weather. Bet we didn't have as much rain then as we are having this winter. Okay, here it is:

BETTER WEATHER

We wuz getting reely bored cuz of all the rain, and we couldn't go for a walk. Well the weather is a lot better now, and the sun is shining. It's even warm enuff furr me to sit here sunbathing.

That's enuff of the sunbathing, it's time me and Eric took mum furr a walk.

All the sheep in the fields have got theer lambs. We like to watch them running around.

Time furr some nice fresh green grass.

We haf to check efurryfing out. We hafn't been down here furr ages.

I need a rest and a bit more sunbathing.

All this walking has made me hot. I need to cool my tail down.

That's cooler. I'll just haf a quick look ofurr the hedge and see what's going on there.

We are on guard duty here. This is the field that the vishus deer go in sumtimes. We haf to make sure fings are safe befurr we go back to our indoors.
We had fun outdoors. It's much better when the sun shines.

Mouse Hunters

Flynn: It has still been raining most of the time here, but as soon as it stops, mum has been taking us for walks again. She sez if we don't get out quick in between the downpours we'll never get out.
We haf been taking her around the fields to look for mousies. There don't seem to be many around. They must haf got washed away in all the rain. Mum sez not to worry, they will soon be back when Spring comes along. We hope so although Eric isn't allowed to eat them any more. I just like to play with them. I often let them go free so I can catch them again but sometimes they go dead while I still want to play. Mum sez I am mean to them, but I think it's them who are mean for not playing long enough.

We haven't been out walking around the fields much lately because the weather has been too bad. Now we are out, we have to make sure everything is as it should be. I am looking up across the fields to check things out.

While Flynn is checking the top field, I will look down across the bottom fields.

Everything looked all right there so now we will do our foot patrol and check the other fields.
We are glad it didn't rain and we enjoyed going out again to do our Mancat duties. There is rain forecast for the rest of the week so we may look after the woodburner instead.

This week's Friday Flashback comes from February 2007. We are enjoying looking through all our old posts and finding one to re-publish every week. This one makes us sad though when we remember our good furrend Mu shue is no longer with us. We are sure he is happy at the Bridge though, and playing with many furrends old and new. We decided we want to dedicate this post to Mu shue Pooh, and maybe everycat would like to stop and think about him and all our other furrends who have gone to the Rainbow Bridge.

We got owr pakij furrom Mushue Pooh furr being theer 1000th. vizzyter. Fank yoo effur so much furr all the good fings yoo sent us.
He told us this is Rosie Rat an we haf got one eech. I like Rosie Rat. She is good furr chooing.

Hmm theer are some inchresting smells heer.

We haf got owr Rosie Rats owt, an a nip sack eech, but theer is sumfing in heer I need to get at.

Eric are yoo reeding dat letter? No I've fownd some nip on it, and I'm eeting it.

Well I'm not eeting it, I'm going to rub my face in it.

I reely like dis Rosie Rat. Hey Eric, I hope yer girlcat frend Rosie duzn't mind dis chewy mousie haffing the same name as her.

If yoo look at dis letter furrom Mushue Pooh, yoo will see it's a bit scruffy. Well when the pakij arrived, mum had a kwik peep inside and read the letter. She sed that we wud haf to wait furr her to finish doing the horsies, an then we cud see what we got. She put the pakij on the kitchen werktop, an the letter beside it. When she came back, the letter wuz on the floor, an had a big hole in the middle, and wuz all wet wiv drool. It smelled so good, I cudn't leev it up theer. I had to roll and drool all ofurr it. Theer wuz a packit uv nip in theer too, an sumhow the corner got chewed.I don't know how dat happened. An evil introoder kitty must haf come indoors an did it.

And look, we got Greenies too!!!! We bofe love Greenies, but we can't get them in the UK . And we got nip, lovely nip.

Mum got the sucky monster owt, so she sed we cud take efurryfing in on the bed.

If yoo look behind the letter, yoo can just see the corner uv the pakij wheer I chewed it.

I didn't know yoo cud eet the nip. Flynn allus rolls in it, but I thought I wud see what it taystid like. Mum wuz laffin at me cuz I wuz making funny noyziz. Now I'm all nipped up, an efurryfing looks blurry.

I was peacefully sleeping on the computer desk when suddenly I noticed something from the corner of my eye. It was the biggest spider I had seen for a long time! I bet it is tasty. Mum saw the link to the spider on Laila and Minchie's blog and thought I would like it. The video is a bit dark and I was a bit tired, but you get the general idea.

I was sitting in the kitchen minding my own bizzyness when suddenly I looked out the window and saw a fev-ver in the greenhouse. I had to run out to catch it but it went up to the top where I can't reach it.

My Secret Hiding Place

When it has been very cold lately it is hard to find somewhere good to keep warm. The other day I found the airing cupboard door open and before you could say 'Where's Flynn?' I was in there. Oh it is lovely with all the nice clean warm towels to snuggle on. Nobody knows about this secret place.

Uh-oh, I think I may have been spotted. Surely she wouldn't make me move. If I keep very still and quiet, she may think she imagined seeing me in here.

Aww go on mum, it's cold out there. You wouldn't make a poor freezing kitty get out of such a nice warm bed would you? Thanks mum! She let me stay.

It gets very tiring trying to arrange yourself in cute poses all the time. Maybe Eric has the right idea when he walks off as soon as he sees the camera.
I keep my furrs spotlessly white, even after I have been rolling in the dirt. I will let you into a secret. Eric had to have his trousers washed yesterday because he had poop stuck to them. Don't tell him I told you though.

It has been very cold lately. One night we went down to -12c which is very unusual for us, but at least it has kept dry. Now the temperature has gone back up to around 0c, it even feels warm to us now. We are starting to go out for walks again and it is good to just roll around in the dirt and take it easy. Of course rolling usually leads to wrestling!

Bad Blogger wouldn't let me post my photo on Thursday, so mum said we had better try again today. It took ages to load but at least it worked this time.
I am dreaming of Temtayshuns and Stinky Goodness and all sorts of nice treats because mum is trying to starve me. She sez I have to lose at least the 2lbs I have put on since I was last weighed three months ago, but really she would like me to lose double that. I'll just waste away if she has her way.

Eric: But the most impawtunt thing is to make sure you keep your mum safe in the dark by listening out for any strange noises.

Mouse Tails

We had two mousies for Chris Mouse, (we think they are twins) from our holiday auntie.
If you pull their tails they run and bounce along the ground.
Huh! Where do you think you are going?
Aaarghh they are ganging up on me now.
I'll get my own back, I'll put the bitey on him.

I have a confession to make. Dad weighed us this morning. Mum said she thought I had put on weight because I was too heavy when she picked me up. The last time I was weighed, I had put the weight back on after I was ill and was back to 21lbs. Uh-oh, today I was 23lbs. The Beans are not pleased. Flynn is still 16lbs. That is his normal winter weight and he goes down to 14lbs in the summer.
The treats have disappeared and our morning crunchies have been halved. We still get our normal Stinky Goodness at night. Flynn is not happy because 15-16lbs is a good weight for him.
Mum thinks I have put on so much because I am eating special crunchies for sensitive tummies and now I am not yakking all the time, I am putting on weight. When she fed us this morning, can you believe we could see the bottom of our dishes. Yup you heard that right, she's starving us. If anycat could teleport over with a secret stash of treats we'd be very grateful, but don't let the Beans know.

The Beans were out all day yesterday so I made the most of checking the tree without hearing,'Flynn, don't you dare climb that tree. We don't want it on the floor again'. I didn't hear the door being unlocked. Eric could have told me they were watching me, but did he? Nope. I didn't get told off though cuz they could see I wuz only checking everyfing wuz in the right place still. They don't let us have the lights on if they aren't home because the furrst year I chewed right through the wire. Mum said it wuz lucky for me that it's got a safety fingy or I could haf been a curly cat.

The Friday Flashback - Checking Holes

This week's Friday Flashback is from November 2006.
One thing we haf noticed is how much our spelling has impurroved since we started blogging. Mum told us we had to be more careful with our spelling, but we think it wuz because she found when she wuz emailing friends, she wuz starting to spell like us and had to check everything carefully. She wuz worried that one day she might send the bank manager or somebody like that a letter wiv bad spelling. We still make some mistakes, but hey, we're cats. What duz she expect, miracles?

CHECKING HOLES

Efurry day we haf to check out all the holes in the feelds to see if theer is enny one home. This is a bunny's hole, but I can't see him.

I'll just put my arm down an see if I can feel ennyfing.........
Nope, no-one at home. I wunder if Eric is haffing better luck.

Theer's a ratty livs in this hole. He goes in the horsie stables an steals theer food and takes it down heer. Don't fink he's home either.

Hey look at this Eric! there's a nip pad inside. No wonder it smells so good. There's a Chris Mouse card too and it says it's from our furrends Adan and Lego and Michico.

Christmas Tree

The other day we wanted to get our Chris Mouse tree up so mum said she would help us. Here I am with the middle section on the floor getting the branches nicely spread out.

I thought it would be a good idea to put my stink on it as we went along.

I tasted it as well to make sure it was our tree and not an introoder tree.

Then Eric came along and we checked the box was empty together.

Yup, all seems in order. Nuffin left in here.

Then I had to check the box handle worked properly.

Next thing was to make sure it wuz in the proper purrzishun for hiding under.

I wuz getting tired by then cuz I wuzn't getting much help furrom Eric or mum. I couldn't even have a rest in my Ham-Mick cuz someone had put all the shiny whapping balls on it.

Phew! Finished at last. Next time I think I will leave it for mum to do.

Mum was refilling my nippy carrot and I came in and found the opened tub of nip on the floor. I couldn't believe my eyes!
We hope this turns out right because our videos won't process lately on Blogger so we got a You Tube account and this is our first try. Looks okay on the preview so we are keeping our paws crossed.

Some of you were saying what a fun place we had to play in. It is actually our safe enclosure that used to go on the outside of the window so we could go out and get fresh air when mum wasn't able to take us for walks. As some of you know, we had a big purrizen fence put all the way around our garden just over a year ago. This means we can go in and out as much as we want, whenever we want, and mum doesn't have to spend as much time taking us for walks. Now the enclosure is left in the garden for us to play and sunbathe on. It still gets used when the Beans go on holiday though. Dad made a cat door in the garage/workshop for us and the enclosure is bolted to the garage wall. This means we can still get out in the sun,(or rain) when we are purrizeners. Our plant pots get put in there as well so we can nap in them or on our shelf.
I think that sitting on the ladder like this shows off my Mancatlyness, even if Eric does call me a poser.

A Robin and an Award.

Flynn:
Last weekend we put up our Chris Mouse tree and on the tree we put our robin. This robin used to have a brother but several years ago I climbed in the tree and found him. When mum got up the next morning she found a little plastic carcass on the floor but no fev-vers. She thought I must have eaten them. When she put the tree away after Chris Mouse she found the fev-vers hidden amongst the branches. Now she puts the surviving robin at the top of the tree with Mr.Bear. She thinks he is safe up there.
The other day we were reading Simply Cats blog and saw that they had an identical robin and Mitzi had done exactly the same thing. You can read about it here.

On the Scent.

We don't go out as much through the winter, toasting your toesies by the fire is much better. We still have to make the effort now and again though to make sure nothing has changed and to check the different smells.

Eric: After a quick walk around the field, we went into the barn and I could smell something on the plastic. I think it was only mice, but I put my scent on it just in case it was an introoder.

Then we walked in the grass along the outside of the barn. We thought we could smell something here. Flynn said he was on the trail.

Yes, there is definitely an introoder smell here. We keep telling mum something is digging it's way into the garden, but all she says is " What's up with you two. Why are you all poofed up?" Just wait until we catch it. That will show her there really is something out here.
The frosty grass has given us cold toesies, so we are going back to the fire to warm them up.

Checking Up.

First of all it rained all the time.
Then it got cold and there was nasty stuff on the ground that you couldn't see, but when you walked on it, it made your legs fly all over the place. It wasn't worth going out, so we stayed in front of the fire and toasted our toesies.
Well, I've had enough. I need to go outdoors and make sure everything is in order.
I have to look over the edge because badgers live there and I want to make sure they haven't put more earth there.

I can't see them. Maybe I will see better if I look from the tree.

Nope, everything looks deserted.

I would climb to the top of the tree and see even more from there, but it is a bit cold. Maybe I will go back by the fire. I expect the badgers are all in their houses sitting by the fire too.

Important announcement!
Mum sent out the second lot of cards on Saturday 29/11, and the man in the Post Office told her to leave them with him and he would stamp them for her as there were a lot. (He often does that.) There were 3 for the UK and all the rest were for USA and Canada. Well, we heard from Fat Eric that his card arrived and it had a US value stamp on it. That means there may be a card gone to the USA with a UK value stamp on it. If any one does get an under paid card we are very sorry. Let us know and we'll send something to make up for it. We're hoping he maybe forgot some were in the UK and put higher price stamps on all of them.

IT'S RAINING!

Hooray!!!! It started raining this morning, and it's much cooler.We've got so fed up with being hot and exhausted all the time. The beans are happy too. They said the vegetables and flowers will be glad of it.We wanted to go out and roll in the wet grass, but mumbean said we would all get too wet. Anyway we kept on and on and in the end she gave in. She said no normal kitty would want to play in the rain, but what does she know!! We went out and raced around like a pair of nutcases. (Her description not ours) and when we came in, she said we looked more like beavers than kitties. I must remember to ask Flynn if he knows what beavers are.She took a picher of us to try and embarass us.
About two weeks ago our beans made hay out of grass in the fields, so the horses haf got sumfing to eat in the winter. Now it is all in the barn so it won't get wet. Me and Flynn haf been to check that they did it right. Here are sum pichers of us looking at it. Oh oh I'll have to do those pichers quick. Mumbeans getting the stinky goodness. Got to hurry or Flynn'll eat it all. He might be smaller than me, but he's got a big appy tite.

Fierce Fighter Day.

The Whiskers and Purrs Gang are sponsoring Fierce Fighter Day today.
Mum said we could show photos of some of the cats who came before who brought happiness into her and dad's lives.
This lovely boy lived with mum before she was married. He only had one eye but mum doesn't know how he lost it. It is thought that he may have been kicked by a cow. Of course there was only one name for him - Patch.

This is the first poodin, Spot, who lived with mum and dad right after they got married. He really belonged to dad's parents, but he decided he wanted to be an only cat so he moved in with our Beans. He was an old boy then and they only had him for a year before he went to the Bridge with kidney failure.

This is Marmi, he was the first kitty the Beans had from a kitten, and they had him soon after Spot went to the Bridge.

Some of you may recognise this little ladycat. This is our beloved Kitty Yumbum. If you haven't seen her before, you can read about her here.

This is Tiddler. He loved ladders. When dad's dad died, he started coming indoors to visit our dad. He was a man's cat and didn't want to stay with dad's mum, so he moved in with our Beans.

This is Smokin'Joe. After Marmi went to the Bridge, the Beans were too upset to have another poodin. One day mum said to dad,'It's just not right without a poodin.' One of dad's mum's cats had just had kittens so they decided to have one of them, so Smokin' Joe who was also known as Jelly Bean became their next kitty.

When dad's mum died, our Beans took on all her kitties. The following are photos of some of them. Above L to R Mother Puss, Auntie Cat, Tozies and Desmond.
Auntie Puss. She was prone to getting ulcers on her eyes and was always at the V E T getting treatment for them. One day one burst and the V E T did a graft on her eyeball using her third eyelid. It saved her eye and she could still see well enough to hunt.

Mother Puss. As her name suggests, she had many kittens. She was Kitty Yumbum's mother. As soon as she had finished nursing her kittens, mum took her in for her Ladygardenectomy.

This is Mr. Pig. He was dad's mum's favourite kitty. She called him Mr. Pig cuz he never stopped eating.

This is Desmond, he was Kitty Yumbum's favourite nap partner. He was a big boy and then he got sick. He was being treated by the V E T and then he suddenly started passing congealed blood in his poop. He died within a week of being ill. The Beans were very sad.
